Anybody have the ice>Link iPod "integrator" for their TT? (more inside)
I was at Best Buy today, and saw it in the car audio section. It's $200 and the guy said they could install it for me for about $50. The downside is that the cd changer is no longer functional, but I guess if my iPod is hooked up directly to my stereo it doesn't matter.
If anyone has already done this please post your feelings about the product, I am thinking about buying it this weekend. If nobody has done it yet then I will do a review after install. The guy at the store said it was a new product, so maybe not many on here have it or have tried it.
Thanks,

Yes...
It may be new to best buy, but it's not a new product. I've had mine for at least a year. It integrates very well into the stock sound system.
You can probably leave the CD changer installed, the IceLink box is pretty small. I took out my changer.
There are a number of competing products available now, including one by a member of this forum. Here's one: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VdsZs6xijkE/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=227450&I=469AUDAUX&search=i pod

and choose the radio end connection. then you can install it yourself in 10 mins. if you get the cd changer connection then install will be a major PITA because it would involve talking of interior panels. the cd chager still does not work but it is a much more practical way of doing this. i really like the product sound is cd quality. a few heads up though, the text will not be displayed on the audi deck and the deck on mine does not let you access the ipod interface. this is not a big deal to me because the reason i got it was so i could use the radio controls. i would rate this prooduct a 9/10. if you have any more question feel free to ask me
heres the link to the icelink site showing the radio connection

http://densionusa.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?</a

curious, why did you take out the changer? the "brains" of my icelink is a little bit bigger >
than a 9 volt battery. nothing you would need to remove the changer for...unless the unit is diffrent...

I have the P.I.E. iPod adaptor. It was $160 and installs in the back (review inside&g
head unit, which is a pain if you don't have the tools.
Things I like:
Direct connection, which provides a nice sound.
Uses the stereo controls, also nice.
You can setup the 6 cd changer buttons to control 6 renamed playlists.
Things I'm not thrilled about:
Random play only, the dock port connection disables the click wheel, All you can do is random or play in order, not a huge deal, I only listen random anyway but if you want a specific song (like Battle without Honor or Humanity (the jag ad song)) you've either got to set that one song up on your computer as a playlist or pray for it to randomly come up.
The display reads "OK to disconnect", and that's it. I set my iPod up in the storage area under the ash tray in a home made tray at an angle so that you could read it from the drivers seat and once I hooked this thing up there is nothing to read. On the plus side my iPod is always hidden.

Just one question, if you don't mind >>>
Installation is not really up to me, I don't think I'm going to be doing it myself because a friend of mine has a car audio shop and said he would do it for me if I bought the unit from his store. I know you mentioned that you can use the radio controls to select songs, do the iPod controls also still work? I can imagine using the scroll wheel more than the radio controls at a stoplight or similar "standstill" situations. -TIA
