hmm maybe I won't do flat black - possibly a dark gray with some metalic coating

Default then it won't be flat. Don't know of any 'metallic' coating that is flat, unless it's a base coat...

like the Audi 'Peral Effect' added to most Audi base colors, W/O a ClearCoat top.

Default Actually, this might look better if it were not FLAT black, but more 'satin' or an 'Ultra Flat Black

not just a Auto Store Flat Black.

Also, I'll bet by now, this stuff has flaked off.

Default yeah, I don't want flat, but I don't want a clear coat

Something to darken the metal but keep it looking like metal

I'd take it to a paint place and have it done right, no spray paint for me

Default They look better stock. Too much surface for a dark wheel. Have em refinished if necessary

Buy a cheap set of Fliks or something for winter if need be. The Fat Fives look great in stock form and none of the painted ones have been close.
