Default anyone had problem with brake lights staying on?

I've had this happen two or three times - yesterday some experimentation showed that it only seemed to happen with an extremely light tap on the brake pedal - even with the car switched off, the three brake lights remained illuminated; it took a firm press on the pedal, and then releasing toget the lights to go out.

Default This has come up a few times...

If I remember it had something to do with a switch on/under the brake pedal. That's where the switch is that toggles the lights on and off. Maybe check under there and see if it has become dislodged or stuck.

Default brake light switch F.

mine had to be replaced under warranty...

was causing problems with my haldex system, my cruise control, and a few other things.

i'd take care of it asap, if for no other reason than to save yourself those issues. ;-)

Default thanks for the input...

- I have had the cruise control prob. too, it seems to disengage w/o input, and it was suggested it was the brake switch. I am going to schedule service for the LS (coil pack) recall and get them to fix that, too.

Default interesting

friend with a New Beetle turbo just got a recall notice from VW for exactly that.. I wonder if it's a shared part? That said, mine's fine so far!

I'm sure it is a shared part.
