Default anyone have thoughts on digital satelite radio (such xm radio)...

due to start broadcasting in san diego and dallas in a couple of weeks, then nationwide by thanksgiving.

i went to their site and it looks pretty good, but you have to purchase the appropriate equipment and then pay $10/month.

worth it for the digital sound and 100 channels?

Default XM is insanely awesome!

I have it in my Saab and plan to buy another kit to mount it in my TTQR (just signed papers on it last night). I've lived with the XM service for about a month as part of a beta-test applicant. I'm addicted! It is absolutely worth every penny!

So, how much does it cost for the kit and how do you connect it to your stereo system?

Default you need an rf adapter box, a "tuner", and a special antenna...

which would then play through your existing head unit on an unoccupied fm station (it connects through the antenna lead)...
or you can buy an xm-enabled head unit (but you still need the rf box and the antenna).

i think you can spend as little as about $150, but you can go way up depending upon the head unit you buy.

sony has a unit that you can move from car stereo to home stereo.

Default Sorry, I just started another thread on this question before I found yours - dopey me!!

I think the concept is a good idea. My question is whether people will be willing to pay to upgrade equipment.

My brother is an over-the-road truck driver and he thinks truckers will eat it up!

Default i was looking at the latest crutchfield catalogue and it looks like you could upgrade...

for under $200 (and go up from there, should you so desire).

I just noticed Sirius will carry "Speedvision" broadcasts. Do people listen to racing on the radio?
