Anyone know the importance of the plastic undercarriage?
The plastic undercarriage on the bottom of the car by the engine. Does this serve any benefits such as air flow and stability?
While parking one day, I ripped a large piece of it off by accident. So I decided to just do away with it all together. Lately the cars feels unusually floaty and vibrates a lot at high speeds. Could this be that I need an alignment or perhaps the undercarriage?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

I would replace it because I believe it not only protects components on the bottom of the car....
...but also helps to manage air-flow and eliminate turbulence underneath. I seriously doubt, however, that missing it will cause the problems you're describing. I'd bet on the alignment before that.

Babel Fish quote
"The situation of the exhaust side in the Windschatten. of the engine in combination with the enormous energy entry over the exhaust mass flow made an arranged cooling necessary: Over several NACA nozzles, which are integrated into the engine compartment cap, cooling air from down succeeds into the engine compartment. Additionally over an active opening in the radiator exhaust scoop the air flow between hood and engine Design cover is strengthened and led toward exhaust elbow unions. The moreover one without the usual waermeabschirmung of the exhaust elbow union one did, instead thermally highly loaded construction units in the periphery over secondary screen were protected."
In otherwords it's made to help cool the turbo.

Mine seems to have a little air duct. So I would imagine that is one of it's functions...
I would also think it protects the engine from projectiles that might find there way in there!
