Anyone seen this turbo kit? Could be exactly what some 180 TT owners want...

Default Anyone seen this turbo kit? Could be exactly what some 180 TT owners want...

though at least if you have a FWD, I guess you'd still have a DP compatibility issue? Still, the concept is the one that appeal to me the most, out of all the turbo upgrades out there.

Supposedly, K04turbos.com will be bringing a similar upgrade kit to market too, using the TT 225 turbo.

http://20vt.com/18T%20Turbo%20Kits.htm</a

Default

The price seems right but I don't see any mention of how much hp one could expect.

Default Similar to a 225TT I assume?? I don't like the quote "BT software available"...

Tells me they don't have anything specifically tailored to this kit. I wonder whether using something like a GIAC 225 TT chip on our cars in conjunction with this kit would work.

Default Yeah, seems like too many variables.I think I would feel safer w/ APR if I were to go stg lll...

A bit more money but in the long run the peace of mind is worth it.IMO

Default yeah, I just like the idea of using an OE spec'd turbo in my car...

even though the APR kit is more "tried and true." I am trying to avoid big turbo characteristics. Besides, chipped 225 performance (with all the other bolt-ons) is all I'll ever want in this car...

Default While the OEM turbos are ok - they are old tech vs. the turbos that APR uses

and alot of factors affect turbo lag etc. besides the size of the turbo. If you look at big turbo engines - the amount of torque and hp they are making are more than chipped stock turbos at similar rpms - although they don't make considerably more power until higher up in the rpm range, where the OEM basically runs out of steam. I can't wait to dump the K04 on my 225 for a larger turbo kit when it comes out.
