Default Anyone tried fixing a scratch in their 17 inch 2000 TT rims??? Results??

Just scratched my rim, I was in a hurry and for the first time ever had it washed at a car wash. I know. I know. I am an idiot. I only wish I read that post last week where the same thing happened to two people prior to it happening to me but oh well. Know I have to fix it any people tried sanding?? or costs of having an expert fix it, the scratches are on two spokes and are about 3/4 inch and 1 1/4 inches long but they seem deep.
HELP?

Thanks in advance for any response.

Default I have 4 badly damaged 17" wheels . ..

The tire dealer that caused all of the damage will be having all of the wheels refinished for me, when I take the car into him to have it done. I will try and find a day next week or the week after. I am tired of looking at the wheels already!

I will let you know how they come out.

Default Link to previous post on Wheel Worx

We've used them on Mercedes alloys and they did a great job. Ship by UPS, 2-day turnaround.

Info and Address for Wheel Worx

Default What does refinishing a wheel entail? Mine too are damaged because of bad or too aggressive driving.

Default From what I was told . . .

The wheel is put back into a mold and is sort of recast, or something like that.

Honestly I don't know! That is what the guy told me, but I am not sure.

Default I've done it but it's a lot of work.

Sandpaper of various grades, Filling compound, matching paint, clear gloss, spray paint or airbrush kit, Mequiar's polish (heavyduty and finalcut), electric buffer, masking tapes and a whole weekend.
Might be cheaper to get a quote from a workshop.
Sure makes you drive and park carefully in future.
