Anyone use ONLY a hair dryer for debadging?
I talked to the service guys at my dealer about debadging, and they said that to use a hair dryer and oscillate it back and forth over the center of the badge to get the badge nice and warm but to be careful of overheating the paint. They said if I get it warm enough I should be able to pretty much just pull the badge off without leaving the bits of foam the dental floss method would leave behind. They said they replace badges fairly often (usually snapped badges from a vandal trying to just pull one off) and found this to be the best method.
Anyone else had luck just peeling them off by warming them?

No. After debadging every car I've owned, most of the time just using a hair dryer I have come away with several minor scratches. When some mentioned using dental floss I thought hmmm good idea. It is actually a brilliant idea! Just use the hair dryer to warm things a little, then take your floss (I used goretex) and with a little sawing motion it goes right through. I then sprayed it with wd40, let it set for about 5 mins. and took the rest off with a paper towel and little effort. Again I have done this many times and found this to be goof proof.(IMHO)

What were the scratches from?
Just curious. If you don't use any tools, you shouldn't end up with any scratches no matter whether you use floss or just heat or some combo...
Actually, it seems the paper towel would leave scratches...

Are you sure? The foam looks like a b***h...
Especially under the hatch rings.
That and I don't think I could floss my TT badge off; I can't even get a fingernail under the edge (the Quattro badge should be no problem, though...)

It's not a problem.....really!....>>
Contact cleaner or mineral spirits will soften the adhesive making it very easy to remove. Stop obsessing about this!!! It's a 5 minute job...

Re: What were the scratches from?
The scratches were from me not pulling the badges off directly square and catching the paint with the badge. The paper towel is just used to grab the foam that is all goopy. (don't rub the paint with it man) I just mean I've made mistakes before and found the floss to make the job very easy and without risk.
