Well I among others decided to take Audi up on their hospitality and flogg some of the newest models around the tarmac for a few hours. It was a scorching sunday afternoon, probably 90 in the shade.
First up was high speed ABS control. Basically you get in a S-Line A4. Floor it. Mash the brakes as late as possible and still maneuver around the cone blockade, with the help of ABS. Fun.
Next was A3 S-Line in the slalom. Very impressed with this little ride. Not as refined of a feel. It had a lot more feedback. Very light on its feet but really got the job done.
Next was the A6 in a high speed lane change.Ran this a few times with and w/o ESP. I was still very able to get the car where i needed it to go even w/o the added help. ESP gave the the steering a super heavy feel while it braked individual wheels. Felt like it was working against my quick reaction.
Lastly we took the new TT out on the road course with the instructor in an RS4. It was Lead/Follow. We could only go as fast as the slowest car. I was directly behind the RS4 in the red manual coupe. Everyone saw me as the crazy a$$, ***** out, no fear driver so i could not find a co-pilot. Fine with me as this meant i got two laps, sweet! I do say i was hesitant about the new TT s track capabilities. Sitting inside it has a smaller cockpit feel but a larger overall feel. Seating position is higher and tighter. Seats are very supportive yet not overly firm. Stock exhaust tone is much improved. Outside looks are growing on me but i don t think the inside ever would. very blah. Out on the track it inspired instant confidence. very surprising i have to say. Only real complaint was that the gearing seemed to be a little short in the middle gears. It s seemed to take any punishment i threw at it all in stride.
I would never buy a new one, but i will 2nd owner one from someone with more money than brains in a few years. Nothing else, save the R8, in the line up really did much for me. I ll see if that changes when i go for the 1/2 day program in the fall.
Kudos to Audi for putting on a very high class affair! G/F Loves Audi!!!

Sounds just like my experience Saturday, should have planned and went together.
BTW hows the exhaust?! I ended up breaking down in the ghetto and had to put in a new alternator.
