Default Audi TT to be discontinued

Just saw an article on auto blog that the TT will be discounted as Audi transitions to electric vehicles.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a new Audi EE. It'll be like the TT, but electric.

TT sales in the US the past 18 months have been absolutely terrible. US dealers sell an average of 1 TT every 2 months.

I know it won’t have an impact on parts for some time. Plus it shares so many parts with Vw. I do wonder if it will have a positive impact on values.

With Edsels it took like 30 years. Even Porsche 356s depreciated some for 25 or so years before they began to gain significant value.

Well, the newer ones are hideous. The original Mk 1 is beautiful.

Yep, agreed. No to mention I have to pay for college for two kids. Why drop 42k or more for a car that has no practicality? Plus no manual. If wasn’t a hair dressers car then. It sure is now.

Default TT into the trash bin?

I just bought a moderately low mileage 2006 for my son. What great fun. It's too bad but I think it's a reflection of the culture. Too many young mens interests are in the 2D world of online video. My son didn't show much interest in cars until very recently, although he'd been helping me do brakes and regular maintenance on our cars since he was 14. And now since more boys than ever are growing up in a single mama household, does anybody think that mechanical interest is being cultivated and encouraged there? The next 10 years will be interesting for car culture.

Default Very unlikely IMO

Mk 1s are getting no love at the big auctions now. Maybe in another 10+ years for near pristine cars. IMO the most desirable TTs from a collectors' perspective will be unspoiled 2000 coupes, Mk 1 roadsters with baseball interior (about 10% of all Mk 1 roadsters sold), and the Mk 2 TTRS because of its performance and manual tranny. I saw a baseball roadster go at a big TV auction and the announcers had no clue about the interior and thought it was a custom job by the owner.
