Default Audi TT reliability

I just read some posts on this forum from August 2002, and I noticed a lot of posters claimed their TTs had serious reliability problems, including engine and electrical issues. While under warranty, these problems would be a hassle, after warranty, they would be extremely expensive.

What's the word on TT reliability? I don't want to be in the shop a lot, and I don't want to dread life after 4 years/50,000 miles. Thanks!

Default Re: Here are those posts...

Here are the posts I'm refering to. They are in response to a Consumer Report's (that pub. is a joke, of course) review that said the TT had reliability problems. Members of this forum chimed in, mostly near the end of the thread, and said that reliability was indeed an issue.

Have a 02 TT and has been the shop 5 times in past year for several electrical problems; emmision control, radio reset, hazard switch replacement, and latest full instrument cluster replacement. Not sure if this is a sign of things to come but I hope not.

Default Pretty bad..

I knew that the car had problems before I got mine in 02, but I loved the car so much that I pretty much hoped the problems were worked out.. Unfortunately the problems have yet to be worked out, and everything that my TT friends experienced, I am now experiencing the same.. Failing fuel sending units, windows with a mind of their own, faulty turn signals, and for some strange reason I always fear bringing my car to the dealership.. : /

Kinda sad that the car has so many electrical bugs, because its a pretty cool car..

European Survey

Default 2002 225QC, 15k miles, No problems whatsoever, except a loose sidemarker....

Dealer fixed it in a few minutes while I waited. Otherwise, it's been a great car, knock on wood! (or aluminum). Others haven't been so lucky...the most common problem seems to be failed instrument cluster.

Default I've had a lot of issues that were not related to driveability

The passenger window keeps sticking, have noisy fans, fuel gauge was messed up, etc etc.

Nothing so far has left the car anywhere near unsafe or undriveable.

If it wasn't for the one shop scratching my car and repainting it three times (and it's still not right) I'd say the hassle has been worth it...
