AutoX stock class rules... freakin' rearview mirror?!?
My car is stock except for the forge DV. I could easily remove it and reinstall the OEM valve for a day of cone-slamming to keep myself in the stock class.
HOWEVER, when Audi replaced my stress-cracked windshield under warranty, they installed 2000 glass on my 2001 car and had to supply me with a 2000 rearview mirror so that I could see out my windshield again.
Does this wrong-mirror situation affect my ability to stay in the stock category? I searched the archives and found reason for concern.
The funny thing about this is that it would cost me more money to install a new windshield than it would to just say "screw it, StreetMod here I come" and buy an APR chip.

If someone protests because of a mirror, they need to get a life.
I raced all last year in stock class with a Bailey valve. Everyone in my class knew about it, and nobody protested. The worst that could happen is someone could protest your time, and you would be bumped into a different class. I really don't think you'll have any problem with it, but if so, it's just an excuse to buy some mods so you can be competitive in street mod.

Jeff, here is the deal with protests in auto-x . . .
it sounds as if you are talking about a local level only. Possibly even going to a regional event.
On a LOCAL level, don't worry about the DV. If someone even knows what a DV is in stock, let alone yours is NOT stock then they have other things to worry about . . . at a local level.
Now, on a regional or national level event, such as the SCCA Solo II Nationals, then yes, the DV DOES matter. In the rules it is clearly spelled out what is and is not allowed to be changed. If it does NOT say, then it is NOT allowed. The mirror is something else entirely. You would be perfectly fine going to the Nationals and winning and then winning the protest by just having the windshield paperwork and a letter from the Service Manager/writer that they put the wrong windshield into your car and had to swap out the mirror as well.
I am sure you were referring to Art's post about wanting to remove the mirror in his car and was told he could be disqualified for that. Technically it is true, but I doubt anyone would want to risk the ridicule of saying so and so beat them because of a missing or wrong year mirror! lol
The mirror would also be argued that it is legal in an update/backdate rule.
Either way, continue running your car in STOCK with the DV and your 2000 mirror and don't even mention anything to anyone. This is all about fun and a freakin' plastic trophy for crying out loud! lol

You are NOT a cheater . . .
What you can do is walk up to each person in your class at the first event you go to and explain your concerns. They should ALL just say, ok, who cares? Seriously, just tell them that the Audi DV is defective and 90% of TT owners go aftermarket because of that, they won't care. The Mirror is a non-issue. I wouldn't be concerned about it.
Just have fun and kick ***.
