Basic carrier installation: Straight forward or any catch?
Just got my roof rack today. The instructions look easy, but before I chipped any paint, wanted to ask the experienced TTers if there is anything else I should know or be extra careful about.
Thanks

Well you could install the rack facing backwards.
This is the price you pay for a small hatch back but you could always install it backwards. It would stick out towards the front but considering the roof line you would probably never see it.

I tried this! You have to move it so far forward to get it out of the way
that you certainly DO see it, even in the TT's bathtub-like surroundings.
You just have to be careful with the hatch and take the bike off first when you arrive.

I went with the fork mount, thinking that would be a more compact rack.
But still it's long enough to be a hazard when opening the hatch.
I suppose the only real solution is extreme caution.
