This and That at the Bee-Otch Garage
This afternoon I paid a visit to Jeff and took advantage of his TT expertise and spacious garage. Jeff did the lion's share of the work finishing up my boost gauge install, hardwiring my Escort 8500, and of course the main event - installation of the famed Bipes MP3 adapter. I kept busy as cheif flunky, trying to find all the tools I would set down and promptly forget where I put them.
I didn't bring my camera, but I wished I had brought something to record the noises of a 6'+ man as he contorted in the back seat of my coupe while trying to get to my CD changer.
Everything works great, too. We mounted the smartremote for the Escort low on the inside of the left knee brace, just ahead of the gear shift.
The boost guage went into the left vent - I had previously siliconed (no, not putty) the Schwing gauge ring and Jeff tapped the boost line and electricals. I guess I wasn't sure what I was going to see on the gauge, but with WOT I'm spiking around 24 and settling around 19. I was surprised that as the boost bleed off, once it hit 10 pounds it would slam down to zero. Is that a DV problem? My Hyperboost HX has been in for around 4,000 miles.
The iPod adapter is the best part. I mounted the Proclip holder to the right knee brace, Jeff routed the wire up my console and it works great. I'm thinking that once it warms up outside I want to pull my console and route the wire so it comes out of my console cubby. That way I can stow the wire when it's not attached.
Thanks Jeff, for a great Mod Day!
