Boxster vs TT

Boxster vs TT
Well, I bought a 2004 Lapis blue 2.7 Boxster today. What a fantastic handling car! Better than the TT, though not by much. It's beautiful, too, and the engine sounds great. Okay, let's cut to the chase: for those of you who wish they had a Boxster, well, now that I own them both, I like my 225 Quattro coupe better. I just think it's a better car. The handling is close enough to the Boxster, performance in real world driving is comparable, and the utility of the TT is far, far superior to the Boxster. Plus, I had to pay extra for things that were either standard on the TT or included economically in the package: PSM (ESP), Litronics (Xenons), OBC (Information display & computer). Not to mention that the Boxster doesn't even offer Homelink, and there's no flake for the temp gauge! I posted a similar message on my Boxster board, and I think they're going to kill me later on! But it's true, the TT is a better all-around car than the Boxster.

Re: was it an S or a regular?
It's a 2.7 Boxster, not an S. I drove both a couple of times and decided the S was a total waste of money, seeing as how I thought the TT was the equal of both cars in general and there was no way I would pay $15,000 more for a car I didn't think was that great to start with! My Boxster was about $6000 more, which I still think is a rip, but what can you do? I was tempted to get a vanity plate for it, titled: OVRPRCD.

I know that story, the S I had was big $...
but they worked out a great deal, since it had 2 owners (each put about 1,500 miles on it. They sold it back for the same reason- needed larger car. I got it for around $10,000 off list, and it was less then a year old with like $5000 miles on it. It was quite a deal. Got rid of it cause I ended up only putting like 1500 miles on per year myself. Of course the TT has 65000 miles on it ;-). The Elise is also a good reason.
Enjoy the car, they are fun, and you would be surprised how well it handles with better suspension- seriously.

No match for Boxster S
Each to their own, but having owned a TT for 3 years and now a Boxster S for 6 months I find it absolutely stunning that you aren't able to spot the gulf that exists between the 2 cars. The TT is no match, in any department, for the Box S. And certainly the extra loot for an S over the 2.7 is also a no-brainer.
And, gotta say if you seriously believe that the TT and Boxster are similar regarding handling, then all I can say is that you're simply not trying hard enough.
I love the TT, but the Boxster S is in a vastly different class.
Have fun.
