Brake dust preventative?

Brake dust preventative?
This month's Herrington catalog contains "wheel shields" that snap onto the inside of your alloy wheel and are supposed to keep brake dust off of the wheel. Does anyone have experience with these? Could they keep the brakes from being properly cooled? The catalog says the wheel shields have been tested, approved, and certified by the "stringent German TUV" whatever that is.
I'd like to hear any experience on this or other ways to manage the brake dust. I don't want to change pads at this time because of the cost and it's difficult to wade through all the controversy I've seen here regarding pads.

Don't get them. I tried a set in the late '80's . . .they don't do a thing . . .
except keeping all of the heat generated by your brakes from escaping out of the wheels!
the dust eventually makes its way out of the small vents that are supposed to all all of that excess air escape. The aluminum covers also scratch the hell out of the inside of your wheels!
Don't get them, get different brake pads if the dust is killing you that much. Either Mintex or EBC.

Don't use the shields.....
they prevent cooling air getting to the pads and rotors.
The fix is to change the pads.
The alternative is to wash your wheels frequently and wax the inside of the wheels to resist brake dust build up.
Change the pads, though: you'll love the better feel of Mintex or EBC
