Bridgestone Potenza RE730 owners with noise problems, please respond
I am trying to compile data on a problem myself and others are having with our Bridgestone Potenza RE730 tires. The problem is that the inside row of tread blocks is cupping in an alternating pattern. The first noticeable side effect of this is noise. It starts as a humming builds to a really loud humming as the tread problem gets worse.
In my case, the dealer thought there was a rear suspension problem on my car. AoA recommended replacing the shocks but that didn't help. We moved the bad tires to the front and now the rears are doing the same.
I am seeing this problem pop up on occassion on other cars in other forums, so I am mounting an all-out offensive on Audiworld to gather data.
PLEASE list Model Year, Model, Fwd or Q, whether fronts, whether it is rears or all tires that are affected and number of miles on tires and whether suspension is stock or "improved."
I promise I will not use any specific identifying data, I am just trying to gauge the breadth of the problem. If you are skeptical, ask over at the TT forum about me. I am 100% trustworthy.
Thank you very much for your time. People with no problems with their RE730's, please refrain from responding.
I'll start:
2000 TT Coupe, Fwd, rears only, 9000 miles, stock (with recall)

We just had the same poll.
I don't think mine are too loud.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/519885.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/519885.phtml</a></li></ul>

I have the noise, not sure if the "cupping" is to blame....
About 10K on my tires (225/45 17), and they are getting noisier. I haven't inspected the tires enough to determine what is causing the noise. I just installed Audisport Eibach springs in my car last month, and rotated the tires at the same time. The noise GOT VERY VERY LOUD due to the rotation. All my friends at work were asking what is wrong with my car. I rotated the tires back and the noise went away somewhat.

I have the problem...
Tires (225/45/ZR17) on for about 15,000 miles, humming started around 10,000. 2000 A4 1.8t Quattro, eibach pro-kit springs, stock non-sport shocks (yeah yeah, I know....I'm awaiting the delivery of my bilsteins ), not sure about cupping, but when the tires were rotated, the sound seems to have followed the (originally) rear tires.

Same problem.....
'00 1.8TQMS, originally had problem with stock sport suspension. Still had the same problem when I upgraded to Eurosports/Bilsteins. All four tires were noisy. The noise started after a few thousand miles.
The tires mercifully wore out at about 22K miles. They were replaced with Kumho 712s this week. The Kumho's are blissfully quiet, but not as good steering feel or turn in.
My wife also has RE730s on her Acura and has the same problem.
