Default Buying 2006 TT 3.2

Hey everyone, I'm interested in getting an Audi TT, this one specifically:

2006 Audi TT quattro 3.2 250hp S Line 52,204 miles

Does anyone have any advice for buying this car? I'm a first time buyer. I test drove it today and really enjoyed the short distance I got to drive it.

This is an S line TT, what is different about it because it's S line?

Also, starting the engine wasn't as quick as I'm used to. It maybe took 2-3 seconds.

Thanks!

1. Make sure the transmission shifts very smoothly in all modes. (sport, manual both stick and paddles, and automatic)

2. Ask about a service history.

3. Make sure you maintain it.

4. Have alot of fun with it! I love mine. 2005 TT 3.2

5. You should be able to negotiate a better price. Be sure to check kbb.com for the current value.

Default That's my car

That is way too long to fire up a 3.2 TT. Mine fires up instantly.
Have had it 4 years and haven't had one problem yet. Perfect in every way and I LOVE it!!
Mine is silver with red leather.

Thanks for the advice! Does anyone know what the S Line means?

Also, I'm kinda torn between the first one and this one:

http://cars.audiusa.com/409A10-crisw...0-2005-audi-tt

It seems the only major difference is the mileage(52,000 -> 110,000), yet it's $10k cheaper?! The other minor differences are it's an '05 and it's not S Line, but I know S Line does not affect performance...pretty sure at least.

Thats a TON of miles... may be a lot of wear and tear on it too... 13K for a TT?

What is so different about these two to justify the price gap?

The cheaper one is a year older, a roadster, and not S Line, but has less mileage. Am I missing something? Doesn't seem like the differences are $5k difference.

It's just I would really prefer to get a hard top, but at that price...
The Roadster was bought at an auction according to the carfax.

I really appreciate the help guys! Just 2 more weeks!

S- Line is an upgraded tranmission, upgraded brakes, stiffer shocks and springs, thicker anti-roll bars and bigger wheels and tires. Does the Convertible have toptronic transmission and 250 HP? If it does, then it may be just the hard top and better condition for the price difference. It also could be the options that come with the car. Bose Stereo, Navigation, Heated seats, etc.

Hey again, I finally have my down payment ready, and as it turns out i can't get a loan for the car in the OP, so I'm going back to considering getting a much cheaper but very high mileage TT.

Any advice on getting a TT with 100,000+ miles? I want to learn more about cars and would like to do as much work on this car by myself as possible to cut costs and just because i want to learn more about it.

here are the ones im considering now:

1st choice - black 2001

2nd choice - silver 2001

3rd choice - silver 2000: this one has much better mileage, but it's the 5 spd 180 hp version and no ESP.

I really appreciate any advice, and I can't wait to be a proud TT owner!

$800-1500 to have it done at a shop.

Make sure the cluster all works as the fuel and temp gauges + info display tend to die and it's $$.

In addition the fuel senders also fail and cause you to run out of gas.

I have a 180 been pretty reliable except for the clutch which died at 90,000 miles (leaky slave) it cost over $2500 to replace due to the $700 dual mass flywheel.

Only mod I have done is a dual exhaust. You can chip the 180 to 215hp I think and I probably will next time APR or Revo have a sale.

Make sure you get two keys up to $200 for a spare including programming.
