Default Camber Issue Question

Hi all. I've got a small problem I think, maybe you all can help. I recently installed my new H&R coilovers and have a problem with the camber. Here are the numbers:

Left Front: 1.9
Left Rear: 3.3
Right Front: 0.4
Right Rear: 1.4

I took the car to the shop for the alignment, which they did to the tune of 155 bucks. However, they said I need a camber kit to get everything into spec, and then realign the car (for another 155). So first, I'm pissed they are going to double charge me when they could have told me right off the bat that the kit would be needed. Second, I'm a little frustrated at the shop that did my suspension because they said the camber would not be far enough out of align that I'd need the kit (which was obviously contrary to many postings here, but I do trust the guy and he's done a number of these on TTs). So, how f-d am I with those numbers? Should I track the car tomorrow? And which camber kit should I get if need be? Thanks guys/gals, I'm looking forward to the pending help.

Default Re: Camber Issue Question

I also have a similar inquiry. I got 19's and then dropped the car with H&R Sport Springs. My rears definitely have negative camber but I wonder if it's bad enough to warrant a camber kit. Isn't some negative camber ok? I should also probably realign my wheels after I get my wheel spacers, right?

Default That is pretty screwed up...>>

H&R's definitely require camber correction. you also need the front subframe shifted to deal with your front problem. has this car ever been in an accident?

BTW I wouldn't track the car in that condidtion..

Default Maybe time for a new tech?

shoot for:
front: -.8 to -1.0
rear: -1.5
cross camber: ideally zero, but not to exceed .5
(the difference between the right and left on a given axle)

with your fronts at: 1.9 and .4, the cross camber is 1.5
this is unacceptable...
I'm assuming negative values although you didn't state them. It's impossible to set the car to positive at your numbers.

first: seriously consider a different tech
second: measure the ride height...
the front should be 1/4 inch lower than the back
side to side: the same height left and right

If this is screwed up you'll never get the camber right

adjust the coilovers as needed to correct the heights

invest in camber correction for the rear...
You need it!
search on this.. it's been discussed at length

adjust to the specs above...

you may have to move the subframe in the front to bring the camber into spec

good luck!

ps: DO fix this before you track the car

Default Spacers won't change your alignment, but the H&R's certainly did. If you didn't

get some type of camber correction solution (KMACs or adjustable tie bars), though, there isn't much you can do...

Default Thanks Guys

Appreciate the feedback. No the car has not been in an accident at all. I'm absolutely sure of that fact. We had to drop the subframe when putting in the sway bars (forgot to mention that). I have full sway bars front and rear in there as well (25mm and 22mm) from H&R. What's the worst possible thing that can happen with it like this right now? And what's the most likely? I'm bummed about the track day now, that sucks. Any ideas other than the camber kit?

Default Ah...Ok then..>>

When you drop the subframe for the bar you have to index the camber and put it back the way it was. You can't just bolt it back on or you get what you got here. . I would imagine the car handles a little different left and right with those settings. A bit risky IMO...
