Default Can anyone help me with an imobilizer ?? Pick up a used stock ECU to replace my APR'd one. Dealer

said they'd switch it for me and recode it at the 30K maintenance. It's a early, I think, 2001 coupe, I bought used. I told them I didn't think it should have the imobilizer and they said it would take about an hour if it didn't have it. I dropped it off Saturday for what should have been a 2 to 3 hour service. Well, they didn't get it done and their hoping I can pick up tomorrow at lunch, and the service guy is saying its because of the imobilizer. I don't know if the service guy knows what's he's talking about, or he just got in over his head. Does anyone know when the imobilizer was started and how you can tell the build date from the car serial #. Thanks, Steve

Default Does a little amber Key light up on your left.>>>>

Gauge when you turn the key on? That indicates you have the immobilizer....My 2001 with a 11/00 build date has it..

If it is, dealer needs to access special codes to clone the immobilizer. It's a little tricky. Pretty good instructions on the Ross-Tech site...

Default I don't recall, Jeez. I'll check with them and check out the Ross site.

Thanks for the info Steve. Haven't been on the site for a while. Hope you're doing well. Steve.<ul><li><a href="http://images3.fotki.com/v28/photos/4/49895/273461/P1010070-vi.jpg">Schwing it!</a></li></ul>
