Hi I have a 01 tt roadster with a 5 speed when I try and shift into reverse it goes into 1st and to get it to shift into 1st I have to push down on the shifter like shifting into reverse all other gears shift fine. the clutch is fine. is this a problem with the cables or something internal?

I had similiar problem. Had to adjust shift cable. Not to hard, there are instructions somewhere...... Mechanic had told me I needed a new transmission and clutch. I had to buy a nail to hold the shifter locater hole in position. Once air box was out it took 5 minutes and 5 cents.

Having the EXACT same problem. It started going bad about 3 days ago. Started with difficulty getting into 1st then eventually no reverse. There is a youtube video showing how to adjust it. Pretty simple. Doing mine this week.
