Default if you make it out of carbon fiber, maybe ...
but just adding carbon fiber overlays to plastic seems ricey to me.

Either is "ricey" in that no advantage is gained other than cosmetics, regardless. I don't know what the stock piece weighs but I doubt it's that much, so there's not much weight advantage to be gained.

That said, it does _look_ pretty cool.
