Default Carwash (MD, USA)

We purchased our Audi TT Coupe 2001 in February, and we were told by our sales that we cannot bring our car to those machine carwash places since TT is lower than normal vehicles and the equipment at the carwash place would damage the wheels and tires. Do you guys have any knowledge about this information? Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences.

Default ... I don't think ANYONE is going to admit they go to a carwash HERE!

... but, for what it's worth -- the TT goes thru the carwash just fine! Not that "I" go to the carwash ... I hand wash my car, of course! (not)

Default I admitt it, I did it!!! And the results, a 3-4 inch DEEP scratch on my driver side wheel....

If you want me to send you the picture of this carnage, email me and I'll be glad to send it to you. They should have one of those warning tags on the back on the bumper like they do on silk shirts, "HAND WASH ONLY"

Default Most scratch the wheels. I have a chain of hand washes here, doesn't bother the wheels and they use

no machines whatsoever. See if you have any handwashes in your area.

It's even in the manual - do not bring the TT through any car wash. Handwash only.
