Part of me thinks its due to my fondness over my old departed '96 Maxima and that V6 with over 100k on the odometer and nothing but regular oil changes and no drama whatsoever..... anyone drive one or own one to give me the lowdown before I test it myself?!

my previous car was a 92 300ZX n/a slick top...
it had 178,000 on the clock when someone rear ended me and totaled it out. I immediately looked for another, couldn't find a decent one, went and test drove a 350Z and was utterly disappointed. My 300ZX felt faster and had more style. I am sure they are not bad cars though.

I drove one back when I was thinking of getting rid of the TT when it had lots 'o problems...
and, I got the impression of the interior being inferior (ha...rhymes...). It did have a great sound, though, but overall, I didn't feel as "connected" as I do driving my TT.

Guess I'm in the same boat problem/car-wise..... shifter felt slick and
I liked the 6 disc in dash CD.... as my TT has a f-ing cassette! Guess I'll need to test drive it to be sure but if they improved int he engine I had in '96, I'd be thrilled. The TTs interior is hard to beat, even on cars costing mucho more!!

I saw a Vortech supercharged Z (other engine mods as well) put down 380whp .....
when I dyno'd the TT. It had a bunch of engine mods including cams etc. However on the same dyno I saw a G35 sedan put down 210 whp stock and it was a newer one with supposedly 280hp stock. That's a 25% drivetrain loss - which is way high for a rwd car. I honestly think the Z is ugly but design is a personal thing.

Well, look on the bright side....my car had TONS of issues (maybe more than yours) and
mine was bone stock at the time. I've been trouble free since about Sept. (except for that stupid plastic valve breaking), and I'm very glad I didn't jump ship.

Ah yes...gremlins attack and we're off to the competition. Actually,>>
I've felt the same way but, afetr looking into cars (w/o test drive) and seeing the materials / fit / finish / wacky layouts / design elements I go back to one of the main reasons I bought the TT. Other than I sort of fit in it (big requirement!)...I wanted something with a quality build (as in panel fit, materials, etc.) w/o the wacky stuff. Hey, I almost bought a convertible Vette but it didn't meet these requirements. Lots of poop...and, think of the hp I'd have by now.....zoom!
Gremlins.......they hit. As for me....the pump that went was the OEM, not aftermarket! My own little gremlin comes to call.
My TT .... I think I'll keep her. That doesn't mean I don't always consider the options

The Greddy example in R&T Speed hit 411whp in shoot out>>
July edition.....that car did 0-60 in 5 and 1/4 in 13.4 .... best time was 4.9 and 13 for the Vortech @359whp / 317 lbft. My car "should" hit around there....with the right (or is it wrong...)driver

I don't think there's enough gain in performance with the Z vs a TT(especially modded)
to justify the downgrade in design, especially the interior. But, it is a strong drivetrain and without forced induction or AWD is much less complicated. Honestly if I was going to switch from German to Japanese built sports cars I'd be shopping for an S2000, the Z just does nothing for me.
