found a problem with my antenna...it's freaking broken!!!
Pushed on the little black antenna to see if it was flexible and it wobbled. Er, this can't be right (I thought), so I pulled off the boot and yessir, the damn thing was broken.
So, how to fix? Yeah, I did the dumba$$ thing and removed the metal retaining bolt and the damn thing promptly fell into the ceiling. DER!
So, I fish that out (in the rain...of course) and get it back together, sans the broken piece.
I tried soldering it. No joy. So, how do I get this thing re-connected?
I like the term ghetto fix and would like to apply it here, but....er....hmmm...how to fix?
I could trim away more of the plastic sleeve, exposing more metal on both side and JB weld that sumbitch, but would that work?
Any of you know of a conductive compound I can use as a type of glue or connector?
Or, how does one gain access to the roof through the overhead?

you took apart the privacy shield? i've noticed that mine as of late is squeaking really loudly when i go over bumps and it drives me nuts. did the dis-assembly work?

Yes, the privacy shield. Someone on her posted something on it...seemed easy enough.
Took a small screwdriver and a thin-tip screwdriver from my Swiss Army knife and SLOWLY pried the thing open (moving an inch or so at a time). Took a little bit because you are basically breaking apart seems and little joints with some type of glue on them.
Took off the cloth and hand-washed it. Scrubbed the two pieces clean (very nasty) and then applied Vinylex.
Looked at disassembled parts and figured the best way to hit it was with super Goop. Figured out where I wanted it all to go, put it all over the damn place, and then clamped together the recessed portion and the two sides.
Seems pretty tight...no squeaks. Oh, I glued in the metal pieces, too (think they are there as counterweights for some reason).

Actually, there doesn't seem to be any other reason for it. The rest is just plastic.
I think the weights keep the privacy deck parallel to the glass. So, whether you open or shut the rear hatch, the deck is not askew. Simply there to maintain the crisp look of the assembly.
What is your idea for the metal pieces, or have you not opened one?

Ah, I thought I remembered reading "integrated antenna" somewhere. Hmm, so I guess I will just
find a way to put it back together and seal it up nice and watertight.
Thanks!
