Coil Pack Replacement
I'm going in for my 30,000 service tomorrow. In the past, the dealer has said that unless I am experienceing problems, I have to wait for my postcard notice before they will replace the coil pack.
Is this right? Is there anything I can do to force them to do it now? I really don't want to experience a failure some dark cold night.
Thanks!!

Recall work
If you have a reall notice on your car, you do not have to wait for the failure to occur for replacement. They can not tell you otherwise. I highly doubt they waited for cars to go up in flames for the fuel line recall on the early cars. If they refuse to do your recall, find another dealer.

Yeah it was like you said before the actual service notice was in effect...
They would only replace them under warranty if they broke but now they have to regardless. Are you sure that your coil packs are the bad ones?

You're right -- I thought they all were bad.....
and that they were dealing with the shortage of coil packs by only doing certain VINs at a time. Come to learn today that I misunderstood (blond moment!) and that my VIN is not even affected.
