Default Coilover Question..? >

From what I have been reading:

If you have H&R Coilovers you must also get a rear camber kit, control arms, and defcon then an alignment...

Is this all necessary?

And is this limited only to H&R coilovers, or will I also need all of this with KWv3 Coilovers?

Just weighing out my options. thanks

Default You will likely need a camber kit for the rear.* What you need will depend on how low you go.

The Defcon kit is not necessary, though I hear it does amazing things for the handling of the vehicle (if my car were near me, I'd have a set, but that's another story)...

You will definitely need an alignment, though, so if you plan on doing the Defcons, you may as well do them now so you don't have to spend on the alignment twice.

*You will need some sort of KMAC setup or different arms to get your rear alignment back into spec if you have a quattro. Unless, of course, you keep the car at stock ride height -- but why would you want to do that? ;-)

Default DEFCONs are a complimentary mod (as Chris stated). Also, you need EITHER a

rear camber kit (like KMACs) OR rear control arms - you don't need both unless you go REALLY low. That is for the rear suspension, not the front.

Alignment is a MUST do after install.

Default So regardless of which brand Coilovers i get i still need.... >

A rear camber kit OR rear control arms and an alignment?

DEFCONS and RSB is just "complimentary"..

I was looking to go 1.5-2 in the front and a little lower in the rear to level it out... Which i hear can be done by removing the rear perches on the H&R coilovers..

Default You can go that low - but it will negatively affect the handling of your car

and yes you need rear camber correction regarless of type of coilovers. DEFCONS are related to the FRONT of the car and enhance steering sharpness.

Default That low (if you can go that far) you will need either a full KMAC or even KMAC

and adjustable tie bars.

That low you will have to experiment with wheel offsets, spacers, and tire shapes (different brands and styles have different profiles)to keep from rubbing.

Correct on DEFCON and RSB.

Default think about getting it corner balanced also to optimize weight distribution.

IMO the ability to do this should be one of the main selling points for coilovers.

Default Well I guess I wont be going that low. I want it pretty low, but good for city driving and >

Without all that experimenting.. Not a fan of experimenting..

Thats why I ask alot of questions to ensure that I will be doing everything correctly..

I think ill stick to:
H&R Coils
full KMAC
and Alignment for sure

Reading the modshack site, the Defcon 1 seems like a must, and also a RSB... 19 or 21mm? Which is recommended..

19mm Neuspeed or 21mm H&R rear sway are perfect, any larger you will need to upgrade the front
