Default Cold weather& coolant warning

Morning. It was 26 degrees yesterday morning, and 19 degrees this morning when I went out to start up the TT. Each of the last two days, I got the coolant warning symbol on my cluster display. It flashed for about a minute, and then went away.

I looked up the coolant symbol in my manual, but it says that it will go off if the coolant temp. gets too hot, or if I don't have enough coolant in the car. Doesn't mention anything about being too cold.

My reservoir level is fine. I assume this warning is normal, and I should just let the car warm up for a minute before going anywhere?

TIA.

Default how many miles on the car? you should also check your waterpump...could be a warning

for impeller failure if you have the original WP in and haven't changed it. just a thought.

Default

Corrosion on the sensor contacts in the reservoir tank.

Default 41K miles on car

Funds are pretty tight right now, and I really didn't want to have to do a waterpump/timing belt job right now.

How likely is it that this is the culprit?

Default Seems to be a common theme around here for us cold weather states

Mine has flashed 2 times in the past 3 weeks. Both times have been extreme temp drops, IE, 30 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday morning 9 degrees. This last time, (monday actually) Went from 24 degrees to 2 degrees.

Flashes for a minute or so, then goes away. Make sure you fluid level is fine and you should be good.

For peace of mind, you could have the stealer do a pressure test. IIRC around 125.00

Default i firmly believe that...

the cold weather condenses the coolant and it dips below the normal line. mine was doing this, i put a little more coolant in presto it doesn't do it anymore. some say corrosion was the problem but my sensor was shiny and clean.

Default coolant bottle

metal probes in the coolant bottle get fouled up. replace coolant bottle.
