Joel..
You're in Cherry Hill, right? Ever go to Hi Fi Sales on Cuthbert Blvd? If not, you gotta go there. They are pricey, but they have the best home theater selection in the area.
Not that you asked for it, but IMO, HDTV is overpriced and you only can get it's value on a few channels. For DVD and Satellite TV, you'll get as much resolution from a good flatscreen.

Whether or not this is directed at me, I can't help a bit.
what I saw of the Mitsus looked pretty good. They appeared to be damned good for the money, but I didn't do a bunch of research on HDTVs before I bought the sony from Mike.

They have a red push issue....
All Mitsu's come with "torch mode" Which is they have the red color pushed all the way up, make it "look" more vibrant and stand out on the showroom floor compared to other manufactures...
But unless you like to see everybody appear sunburned, you will need to change it.
With some tweaking you can get it close to normal colors, but to get true colors you will need to tweak it with additional hardware (attenuator)
I know how much of a tweaker you are Joel, so my suggestion to you is get it ISF calibrated. Will cost a few hundred dollars, but will be worth it.

Thanks Joe. I do know the place (grew up nearby)....
but they are too expensive for us right now. I understand that HDTV is still a bit premature now but I'm thinking down the road.

Yeah, they are very pricey...
You can always use their showroom to see what is good and then buy online or somewhere else.
The thing with HDTV is that by the time the technology is more "accessible", the units themselves will also be cheaper. Remember how expensive CD burners were when they first came out?
Good luck with whatever you get.
