Heavier foot? Different type of driving this tank?
Are you basing it on what the computer indicates? That is pretty inaccurate over the life of a tank of gas from my observations. Mine is always about 1mpg off.

I've noticed that my car seems to have an ideal octane and >>>
anything above or below that point seems to result in poorer mileage. I don't know if the car "learns" or gets used to a certain octane. I actually get my best mileage when I mix premium and ethanol enhanced regular. I'm guessing that the Techron would not only clean but would raise the octane in the tank. Probably this is only a temporary problem.

mixing premium and regular? why not just buy midgrade?
I've heard many stations only have regular and premium underground tanks... when you buy mid-grade, the pump simply blends a 50/50 mix from the 2 tanks. Don't know if this is accurate but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

actually the ethanol is midgrade so what I end up with is about 90 octane >>
and my car seems most content with that. Plus, saves a little money since ethanol is subsidized here in Iowa.
