Default Depreciation: Now my TT owns me!!!!

My TT depreciated so much that I can't sell it without taking a big hosing...so I'm going to drive the equity out of it. I'll have it a long time. Wish me many trouble-free miles.

I like the car, so I don't really mind. But, compared to some other brands (e.g. Porsche), it's not what one would call a sound investment (relatively speaking)...unless you're in love with the car. Kinda like some women...expensive but nice to pal around with regularly. Some are worth it.

I have two Porsches also...and while they also depreciate...they do so more slowly and I hope they turn around and go up in value at some point. Perhaps this will be the case with the TT also? It would be nice.

Default people who buy new cars shouldn't complain about depreciation

you have it coming!

This isn't a dig directly against hughett.... but if you are buying new you have to know that you'll be upside down in your loan the moment you drive it out of the lot.

Default You haven't seen depreciation until....>>

You see what a Chevy Suburban will be worth 2 years from now!

I agree.....Most of the 6 Porsche's I've owned and bought used were sold for close to or more than I paid for them...

TT's have taken a pretty good hit though...
I'll be owning mine for a while too..

Default Depreciation isn't all that bad...

My dad just bought a pristine 2000 M Roadster with 5000 miles on it (not a typo) for half what the guy originally bought it for.

Default Yep, I've always bought new but...

I got tired of taking a hit so hard on the instant depreciation. It's very hard to wait but I am now only willing to buy if it is a low mileage CPO. You still get hit but not nearly as much. My TT is in near mint condition and the trade in value is thousands less than what the dealer wants for the same car in much worse condition. I just plan on taking very good care of it and keeping it until 2010. So far it's cheaper.

I bought the 2002 225hp coupe for a bit over $20k with just 20k miles on it...and it's virtually new....but the previous owner paid $42k! He's the one who took the largest hosing....I just hope it slows down. Both of my Porsches are leveling out and actually gradually starting back up in value.

Default Porsche? You're kidding right?

2003 Boxster S, MSRP $64K.

Today's trade-in value? $31K.

I wouldn't say that's all that much better, depreciation-wise, than a TT...
