place. Is there software (free, and downloadable) that can help me equalize those volumes easily? BTW Phatbox is nice for $119! I finally don't have to switch CD's, and I get retain all the stock functions of my nav, etc! w00t!

Default I use MP3Gain

It works pretty well and is free. Get it here:

Default I haven't used it, but try this...

I need to do the same thing. All my other software and hardware normalizes "on the fly", apparently the PhatNoise does not.

I did a search (normailze mp3) on www.download.com, this appears to do exactly what we need it to...<ul><li><a href="http://www.download.com/MP3Gain/3000-2169_4-10367823.html?tag=lst-0-2">http://www.download.com/MP3Gain/3000-2169_4-10367823.html?tag=lst-0-2</a</li></ul>

Default Thank you! I also understand that there is an add-on for Windows MCE that does this, and converts...

to wma at the same time. Files might be slightly smaller.

Default You can certainly rip from CD and normalize at the same time, many pieces of software do that.

The wrinkle is normalizing files that are already MP3s.

Default It was my understanding that this add-on could be used to convert levels for current mp3's....

The convert to wma at the same time would just be an extra bonus to save space. I will find out in the next few days and report back.
