Default Does anyone esle have trouble picking up stations

with their Bose "Premium" system? I can't get certain stations very well that my other car radios easily picked up.
I thought maybe something's wrong with the radio/antenna.
Thanks.

What sorts of stations? AM or FM? I know that there was some discussion recently about a small "mod" to provide an auxiliary grounding source for the Haldex, to reportedly improve AM radio reception.

I haven't seen much discussion about FM reception, though.

Default I just noticed recently that I have no AM reception!

Looks like I need to do some research!

Default More than likely a grounding issue. Cycle the rear defroster a couple of times....

if you hear a loud pop and/or reception improves/worsens, it is definitly a grounding issue. Since I rarely listen to AM (only for Raider games) I'm waiting till my 30K service to take it in - last time it was there, they said the radio was fine and the reception issue was due to my window tint - total BS as the defroster trick can get the AM reception to work almost every time.

Good Luck,

Default elmer...the coupe has an antenna integrated into the rear windshield, which guarantees...

poor reception (relative to a stalk antenna)...in addition, the antenna wire runs next to the (ungrounded) haldex unit -- and it can pick up a static charge which really messes up AM reception...that can be fixed by grounding the haldex unit (larryTT had some pictures of that about a month ago here)...unless you change the antenna to a stalk, however, there's not much you can do for overall reception improvement (unless you get satellite radio -- such as xm -- which is fabulous!)

Default Thanks for the response. I have a roadster with the stalk

antenna.
The radio in my wife's '02 Passat is much better at pulling in stations, plus the sound is spectacular(It's the Monsoon).

I'm referring to FM stations. The AM stations come in fine.

Default Dealer's not completely wrong...

Some window tints have metallic content to them and can block radio reception...
