Does anyone have any longterm duability data on the Z vs. Z wax debate???
I'm ready to get a fresh coat of wax on the TT, and am concerned with the long term durability of either Zaino and/or Zymol. I'm familiar with carnuba waxes in general - they do not hold up to the elements for very long (at least mine never did).. As my TT is now housed outside (65 Stang Conv is in the garage), I really want to put something on the paint to protect it from the elements, especially with the rainy season approaching. How does Zaino hold up???? How does Zymol hold up compaired to say, Meguires yellow carnuba paste???
I'm not that concerned with the maintanence of gloss aspect, but more with the ability to withstanding the winter weather. I do not get snow here, but we do frost/ice up overnight a lot and am really concerned that these "show car" polishes will not be able to hold up.
Thanks much
Ted

I didn't have any trouble over the past winter with Zaino . . .
I spent most of the winter in CT and on Long Island. I used Zaino beginning in November when I got the car and used it throughout the winter. The car held up just fine with Zaino. it is a helluva lot easier to apply when the weather gets cold as well! Carnauba, ANY carnauba gets hard the colder it gets. Zaino remains easy to apply even in cold temps. The coldest it was when I waxed the car was 27*. I did the ful treatment, Wash, Z-2, Z-6 ... all went on and wiped off with ease!
I have let the car go for a few weeks at a time and when the rains come as they have the past week the car still beads up and the rain runs right off. Once you do wash the car, the car cleans easily and then the next coat of wax goes on even easier.
Hope that helps ...

How often do you wax?!?!?!?.....
The whole reason for asking was to see how either wax would hold up over several months WITHOUT waxing.... Heck, just about any old wax product will hold up for a few weeks....
Weekends are too short, and applying wax to ANY car (TT included) is not what I consider fun, nor a good use of what precious little time I have.... I have places to be, mountains to MTB and ski on, hockey games to go to, etc.... Besides, I've done my fair share of painting and restorations that waxing looked upon as a chore, not a religeous addiction!
Thanks,
Ted

Considering I've waxed the car every weekend so far, can't really say. :-)
Yes, every weekend. That's how I'm getting the 5 coats they talk about that are needed to make the car's shine come through. I think it looks great! Even great with water beading on the hood!

I am currently testing Zymol Creame vs. Pinnacle for durability...
Pinnacle has won every battle so far as far as ease of use, shine, water bead. I am just waiting until my next wash to see which one still beads the best. I have the hood split in half.
My car stayed outside at the dealer last week while I was gone on vacation, and sits outside all day at work, so lots of UV has had time to decay the wax.
I'll post results soon.

You are going to get a car cover at least right?
I mean I understand the need to keep something as awesome as the 'stang convertible in the garage, but you are going to cover the other work of art you leave outside right?
Should help a bit for the frost and stuff.
Fortunately, I don't plan on testing the out-of-doors winter test on my Zaino vs. Zymol debate on my website.
Tom Boucher
