Does the HPA 02M short shifter work on a 01?

Not quite sure the designations of the transmissinos (does 02M actually mean 2002+ Manual?), but the HPA website leads me to believe they don't have two separate shifters for the 01- and 02+ transmissions. Will theirs work on an 01?

ALL the 6spds are the same. R32 = TT = Jetta/GTI.........as far a your question goes of fit

But the connection from the short shifter to the cable changed in ... '02?

One is ball end, one is... something else
