driver side front aixle busted>>>>????HELP
so as i was doing the brakes today i found out that my driver side front aixle is busted...grease is everywhere.....so basically the outer CV boot/joint is busted
so what are my options??? can i just replace the CV joint/boot or do i have to replace the entire aixle...if so where could i get it and how much does it cost
any other suggestion.....warranty is outta the question since i did modified the suspension and most likely they will blame it on the coilovers
TIA

Here (search seems to be screwy)....
Couple of things to note...
* the new plastic boots are a BEEEYOTCH to get on as it's not stretchy like old school rubber ones.
* you need a special tool (<a href="http://www.chain-auto-tools.com/under_car_tools/AMR599L-1.htm">LIKE THIS</a>)to close the clamps, and i used a cheap one from JC Whitney that I've had for years, but it barely cuts it on the TT's CV boot clamps-- I had to take my HUGE channel locks and close the special tool with them to get enough leverage.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1351227.phtml">Link to my write-up</a></li></ul>

it should be plastic, not rubber. DON'T drive it much til you fix it.
if you get it dirty or run it dry, you WILL destroy the joint quickly.
a new joint costs about $380. a new boot is about $19. =)

I actually had mine spray a bit when my pads wore down...
They hit metal before the new pads & rotors arrived, so I think it over heated & expanded the grease which sprayed through the vent. I had no rips or holes though.
