Driveshaft / Axle Boot Clamp is missing, what to do?
Hi all: I own a 02 TT roadster fronttrac and after the last visit to the dealer for routine oil change and the clamp to the front driveshaft / axle boot was missing. I found out about a year later while doing the oil change. Now the grease is spill everywhere. I used a regular hose clamp from local auto store and hope to fix the problem. But it does not and grease is still coming out.
What should I do? Visiting the local Pepboys does not help and they do not carry parts for audi.
thanks for your help.

how do I find out which kit I need?
I also found this clamp. It seems like the one that was missing. The size is about the same. Do you kow if I need any special tools to tighten it?

Chances are that even tho you replace the small clamp with an OETEKER CLAMP, that you have lost a substantial amount of grease in the cv joint because of the boot cracking and leaking.
""""""Now the grease is spill everywhere. """""
so what I suggest is to remove the affected axle and replace both boots (inner and outer)and use only the OEM (Audi) repair kit which includes the proper boot configuration, clamps, and the tty hub bolt. That is unless the cv joint that was loosing grease has been damaged by lack of lube. You might have to give the parts dept the VIN, plus the part number on the axle which is stamped on the axle to obtain the proper kit(s).
BUT.....unless you are cv and axle conversant you might have an independent repair shop do the work using OEM parts. You might review the Bentley shop manual sections 02-20 and 40-13 thru 40-17 or do a search for more detail. Good luck.
