Driving schools/clinics in the Midwest area...
I am looking into attending a driving school thus upcoming Spring '04. I have looked seriously into the Skip Barber 1-day driving school on May 21 at Road America in Wisconsin. I am new to the track/autocross scene and would like to know more why cars behave the way they do and make myself a better overall driver. Are there any other driving schools located in the Midwest area that you guys know of? Thanks!

Where in the Midwest are you located?......
If close to Chicago, you could join the Audi club here. We do several autoX's and they have several track events planned. These are excellent regardless of skill level. You will learn so much and get so much better while having a ton of fun. I remember being so amazed at how well these Audis do on the track and then the next day be driving around easily with my wife looking at landscaping and thinking what a tiger the TT was on Sat. and what a lamb it is on Sunday.
I know there is a similar club around St. Louis and Indianapolis.

Chicago Chapter is running 6 autocrosses and a couple drivers schools
If you're in the Chicago area we've put together 2 autocrosses at Tire Rack and 5 at Joliet Jr. College. Also ACC drivers schools:
Grattan is in April (MI), Putnam in May (IN), Mid-Ohio in June(Duh), Blackhawk in Aug (IL), Gingerman and Road America in Sept (MI & WI)

I am actually a VW owner and I am looking to attend a driving school or clinic to practice skidpad
and slalom maneuvers and just basically learn more on the fundamentals of autocross and track driving. The good thing about the Barber school is that they provide the vehicles (Dodge Dakotas, SRT-4's and Vipers). BTW, I am located in Muskegon, Michigan on the west side. Thanks for the inputs so far

Everything you want to do is done at the Audi Club Driving Schools. It is a lot cheaper than Skip Barber. Not that cheaper is better but the Audi Club has been putting on good quality driving schools and track events for 20 years.
