DV Question
Hi everyone
I just got my TT 180 a week ago and I love it! But, I've been reading a lot of stuff on here about problems with the DV. I'm no mechanic so I'm trying to figure out if my car has this problem. I noticed a very minor noise going between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM in second and third gear, but I only have 200 miles on my car. Some of you have said the problem is audible when you let off the accelerator, but I haven't heard any noise when doing that. Does my car have the symptoms of a bad DV or is it just something normal with the car. And, if it is the DV, is it something that can wait until scheduled maintenance?

From my experience, ...
I've got the problem 2 weeks after delivery, the noise came at 3,000-3,300 rpm and it's really annoying. The dealer changed another DV for me without any question asked, but that was only last for another 2 weeks. So I made up my mind and ordered the Forge DV, but of course I didn't go to the dealer. It's so amazing and it felt like brand new again. You can wait for another while if the it's just a minor noise since some TTer's is quite happy for the stock DV & no problem at all.

Its a fwd. I'm in Raleigh, NC, but originally from Charleston, SC.
Its kinda' hard to explain the sound, but it seems possibly like a distant, low honk. Its nothing loud, and if I wasn't listening for something I probably wouldn't even notice it.

If I remember correctly, most DV noises are heard on deceleration...
There's been so much discussion, some people ARE hearing things. But maybe I should leave it to the gearheads.
Doesn't sound like anything to worry about at this point though...and it's generally safe to drive on a dv undergoing initial failure.
