Yes! It IS your DV...
There have been two different symtoms reported of a bad DV; *either* a noise (sometimes described as a "honk" "hum" or "blowing across a Coke bottle" sound)on acceleration or on deceleration.
From mile 1, my 225 Coupe exhibited a symtom similar to what you describe: intermittently between about 2,400 and 3,100 rpm, under slight acceleration, I would get a low hum/honk that could last anywhere from about 1 second to 10 seconds in duration. Dealer replaces DV twice, and reoriented it the 2nd time; none of these "fixes" worked. Bought a Bailey DV about 7,000 miles ago; end of problem.
