DVD Player and the TT Badge Alluminum Plate

DVD Player and the TT Badge Alluminum Plate
OK...so figuring as how I am going to be pulling out my stock stereo to attach IPOD wires to it, I figured I may as well also look at the option of changing my stock stereo.
now that of course makes me think...DVD player...
so here is my conumdrum....I want to be able to keep my TT badged plate...I love that thing and do not want to have to rip it out....besides looking great, I also figure that there is a bit of theft protection there as I want to be able to fully close the plate when the display screen is inside the stereo and I am away from the car...basically they cannot see that there is a DVD player there (if someone is going to break into the car they are going to break into the car...but why add to that temptation...
So I am wondering if anyone has been abel to add in a DVD player, be able to open the display screen properly (cause open the plate could also be in the way) and also been able to fully close the plate when the display screen is away.
I figure space is tight either way, so if this is possible there is only a few units available (big ***** and the plate will not close, screen does not come out far enough and the plate while open is in the way, etc. and have the install still look good.
I am currently looking at a Kenwood model 715/815/915 as it looks like it might fit the bill, but am wondering what other models may have been used to make all of this work and keep the plate...i want to keep the plate and have it fully functional....
Any pictures of install opened and closed would be great if available..
did I mention I want to keep the plate?
Thanks guys, appreciate any advice as everything I have received from this site has been great!

Kenwood model 715 works for sure
it is in my car right now, I can open the door and then watch a movie, and then when I turn it off, I can still shut the door. And a great unit too!

Re: no problem
awsume...thanks so much for the pictures...
leaves me 2 questions...
it is hard to tell when it is open...is the screen straight up and down or is there a lean to it due to the plate?
Do you know if both the 815 and 915 are the same form factor as the 715? (basically would any of them fit the same?
Thanks again...
and how hard was the install?

Not sure about the other 2 obviously
but as far as the screen, you can tilt it up or down to make it how you want it.
Great unit too - quality!
Install was about 3 hours or so, but we soldered everything, hardwired, no clips to come off or get loose.

No. You can either solder your own onto the wires behind the connector or>>
Buy a Blaupunkt adapter harness that includes the RCAs but has a slightly different connector.
The pins in both connectors are the same however, so you can "painstakenly" dismantle the connectors and snap the pins from the bluapunkt harness into the existing connector on the back of the Concert. Its a pain...I spent probably 20 very frustrating hours doing this. The real trick is figuring out how the Concert's connector comes apart.
If you search the archives here you'll find what you need, including links for the Blaupunkt adapter harness. I ordered mine online but I dont have the link anymore. If you get up against a hardplace I can probably dig the invoice out of my "pile". In retrospect, It probably would have been easier to solder RCAs onto the wires.
