Default If you...>>

Get the Geek kit you can upgrade to the OEM Thermostat for $20. They also have a very good price ($6) on Pentosin coolant. That's the kit I'm going with I believe..

Default just noticed that they say that the substitute thermostat is really the exact same part as the oem

and that there is no reason to purchase it. Do you agree, or would I be better off buying the upgrated one?

http://www.dieselgeek.com/Detail.bok?no=372

I believe the problems noted here were with a Whaler thermostat

Default I went with the DG kit...

it has everything you need plus the handy water pump removal bolts which are quite helpful. I didn't bother replacing the t stat since my car hasn't shown any signs of a failing one.

Default I got the DG kit, but

The crank seal was wrong. My mechanic had to get one from Audi. Otherwise complete and you cant beat the price on coolant. Shipping was lightning fast.

Default no crank seal included with the DG kit...

it includes cam seals, but they don't need to be replaced unless leaking. I haven't heard of someone doing the crank seal during the tb change. Unless it was leaking I wouldn't mess with it.
