I recently noticed that when I turn off the ignition and proceed to exit the vehicle I get a beeping sound as if my lights were still on. In turn it now will not allow me to arm the alarm. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the culprit. The problem tends to be intermittent. I can't express how annoying this is.

Alan,

The problem is that the car "thinks" that the key is still in the ignition. Play with the key in the ignition and when you take it out listen for a "click" and they all should work. You might try some WD40 or teflon lubricant on it. It happened to me and I truned the ignition back and forth a couple of times and the problem has not come back.

Have had same problem. Took my TT to the dealer and he said that the ignition module needs to be replaced. He has ordered the parts. I'll post the results when my TT is repaired. I thought about doing the WD40 thing (see Juan above), but I am concerned about damaging the module and voiding warranty.

Ignition problem....

My 180Q just started doing the same thing over Thanksgiving weekend...at just over 1000 miles. I'm sure I'll have to eventually have the dealership look at it. But for the moment, I've noticed that the "chiming" doesn't occur if I wiggle the ignition key in the ignition just a little bit before removing it. Doing so has virtually eliminated the problem.

I must stress, though, that I'm going to have this looked at when I take my TT in for a voluntary 2500-mile oil change.

door lock switch

I had a similar symptom, but think it cleared after I rocked the door lock switch. It could have been a coincidence, but try this if the ignition idea doesn't help.
