electrical gremlins?
folks,
just recently, i've noticed that my driver's side window no longer does the little "down/up" dance when i open the door. similarly, i swear that when i used to open my driver's side door used to trigger the date/time and mileage to be displayed on the dashboard, but that's no longer happening either.
so, my questions:
1. am i right that the dashboard should display info when i open the door?
2. is there a known cure for one/both of these symptoms? or do i need to go back to the dealership?
3. speaking of the dealership, i started noticing these oddities shortly (or exactly?) after a recent lengthy service. could they have forgotten to reconnect something or reinstall a fuse of some sort?
as an aside: the window is still otherwise operational, and i've noticed no other aberrant behavior.
thanks for any assistance!

yeah common problems. take to the dealer. interesting enough VW has a class action law suit
regarding their windows. I wonder if TT's could be included in that deal...on my beetle i was told that I could get new window modulators (new design) and the window warranty would be extended a few years past the regular warrranty

Re: electrical gremlins?
Ok this will probably raise some debate. But I notice that almost e/one who mods their cars end up posting later that something that was normally working is now defunct. I see this alot specially on chipped cars. I have had my TTQ since 2000, I have 55K miles and e/thing works perfect. No computer/electrical problems. I have spacers and thats it. IMO when you mess with the cars electrical systems and computers you are asking for it, no matter how good the supplier or brand is. I am also basing this on cars in my past that I have modded, and this seems to be a familiar trait. Anytime you change the cars stock charateristics you are bound to trip something somewhere.

Re: electrical gremlins?
i'm thrilled to hear you say you've had no problems w/your 2000 TT. i'm test driving a 2000 this saturday and have read some undesirable info about the electrical probs on these babies. i REALLY want one but don't wanna drop 22k for something that'll be in the shop all the time. any thoughts?
