Default keeps your car from losing control, essentially

it's a fancy version of volkswagon's ASR, or anti slip reduction (which is a double negative thank you gernamy) audi's have ASR too, on the cars without ESP. I'm not sure of the differences, sorry if i'm completely wrong here, too... to me it means that when i do a 3000 launch in the car the light comes on the dash and flashes till i gain traction. also makes it damn near impossible to kick the back end out in a turn, which is really quite depressing.

Default extremely spicey poblanos?.....no really --->

It electronically reduces the power to your wheels when it detects they've lost traction. Thereby reducing the potential for you to swing out, powerslide, donut, etc....

You can turn it off, people say they feel a difference...but it's probably due to their aggressive driving style losing it's restrictions.

Default It will also brake each wheel independantly similar to ABS to bring you under control

I had the opportunity to try it out in an ice driving school and ESP would literally prevent me from throwing the car into an oversteer condition.

I turn it off every time I start up, unless it's raining.

ASR (anti slip REGULATION) is not the same as ESP. It is on FWD VAG cars.
