Default excessive carbon on exhaust tips now...running rich?

should i be concerned? i just got revo'd about 2 months ago, added a 225 neuspeed exhaust to my 180. i always run premium octane, and no, i haven't done anything to the intake yet. i'm deciding between a p-flo or just the drop in(which is what the guy at revo sugessted more so than an aftermarket intake). at any rate, i notice at every car wash interval that i have black soot at the 6 o'clock position of my tails...

a little is normal, especially with a higher-out put car like a chipped 1.8T; kind of depends on your definition of excessive.

Default to me, any smudge is more than it was before.

Default Are you running at higher RPMs lately?

The mappings are set up to run the car rich at high RPMs. If I go out and flog the car I'll have more buildup then if I'm driving Miss Daisy.

I'll get about a day w/o deposits on 91 octane, 3 or more on 100.

Comes from starting the engine often. Happens while engine is warming up.
