EZPass transponder
EZPass transponder seems to not be working lately when entering or exiting tool booths. Seemed to be working fine before. Now, after having EZPass for 1 1/2 years, EZPass finally told me that Audi recommends an exterior transponder which mounts on the front license plate. EZPass told me they have been charging tolls to my account by taking pictures of my rear license plate.
Anyone with similar problem? Anyone with the external transponder? Anyone get theirs stolen?

I had this same problem!!!!
Me and my friend, with a turbo bug. Damn Mass pike... anyways, complained to EZpass folks and they sent a new one and it works just fine.
Get a new one, no cost to you on exchange

when I lived in NJ and got my EZ pass transponder>
I had an A4...they told me that with the AUdi, I couldn't have a windshield mounted transponder--had to have the one that went on the front plate...guess its the same with the TT...something to do with radio antenna in front windshield as I recall...but my Florida sunpass transponder and the transponder for the gates of the community where I live are both windshield mounted and they both work...go figure.....

On the 2002 (not sure about previous years) it is part of the rear window defogger >>>
Someone else will probably give a better description, but I think it is the top wire of the defogger wire grid. The antenna on the roof is only for the phone hook-up. I'm glad I waited until 2002 ... I like the roof better without the silly antenna. It makes no sense to put it there if it only used by the phone ... especially since most DON'T have the phone.
Stupid Audi.
I, of course, could be completely wrong here, but this is just what I seem to remember.
