I thought the JSF had 2 engines, and directional thrust control..

Re: You're thinking of the F22 Raptor. The JSF has 3 variants. The marine variant is a VTOL.

Default Both aircraft have one engine only. Here is a pic...

Their design is similar to the Harrier. They have rotating nozzles for STOVL - Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing.
