Default Final HearsTT Castle Rally Update...

Just a quick final update before we all head up to Morro Bay.

If you have Family Service Radios, bring them. We will be operating on channel 7, code 7 (77 looks kind of like TT).

Looks like the weather has cooled just a touch. We're now looking at low 60s in the day, and high 30s to low 40s at night. The only rain expected is Sunday, but you never know, so you'll probably want to bring an umbrella and suitable clothing just in case.

The final number of attendees ended up being 36, with 28 attending the Sunday Brunch. One couple had wanted out of the brunch, and I was unable to offer them a refund, as I felt that would have put the brunch in jeopardy for the entire group. As much as I hated to take that stance, I think it was good for the group, as the boat has a minimum of 30. I had been telling them to look for 40-50 people based on early results. So I know that we would have had to cancel the entire Sunday Brunch if we had shown up with only 26. They are grumbling a bit as it is, as we are still below their minimum to charter the entire boat, but they're going to allow us to go with 28.

You are free to do whatever on Friday. There are a number of decent restaurants in the area. The front desk can help you out. Most of these restaurants are moderately priced and many have bay views.

You might want to drop by the hotel's bar, "The Conservatory" after dinner. It features live jazz and a bay view, and that's where you'll likely find a number of us Friday night.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to do the Elephant Seal trip. Just depends on what time I get up there and how I'm feeling. However, I hear it's worthwhile. These seals can be 3,000-5,000 pounds, and it's a nice drive up for the sunset. If you want to go, head up if and when you feel like it, or meet at our VIP parking at the itinerary's designated time to convoy with whoever else might feel like heading up with you.

Again, below is a link to directions to the hotel, driving routes, and a link to the itinerary at the bottom of that page. I'd suggest printing all of these pages and bringing them with you.

Here's the weather forecast for the area, just in case you want to do one last check before you hit the road: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USCA0733?day=0&vert=WeatherCity

Safety is our primary concern, so even though we have sports cars, all drives will be at a moderate pace. This is obviously not a race or a high-performance driving event. I don't ever want to organize a rally where next the following week we're discussing an accident that occurred.

Again, consider dropping by WalMart or an autoparts shop and getting a spray bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer. Bring this and a soft terry towel. There are a lot of birds in the area, and your car may get pooped on. If this happens to you, get the poop VERY wet w/the detailer to wash off the crud, and do not rub hard, or you will scratch your paint. Bird poop contains a lot of grit.

Don't forget your camera, as there should be a lot of photo ops. Well, that's about all that I can think of. Have a safe trip up (or down) and I'll look forward to seeing you there!

HearsTT Rally directions, routes, and itinerary.

Default Dammit, Brad - you tease! I really wanted to do this...

But new clients with great future potential take priority. Maybe next time.

Thanks for setting it up anyway.
