finally found the correct clamp for 225 inner front CV boot!!!
after realizing the dealer didn't have the part no. and the VW clamp is too wide (10mm rather than 7mm) i attempted to put a universal clamp on it which didn't clamp hard enough even with the proper cumbersome tool. instead of spending the money on the entire boot kit i started looking around on the web for the actual manufacturer of the clamp. found them and called. very nice folks. they sent me 8 clamps as a "sample". they have every size known to man.
the correct size for this clamp is 74.5mm X 7mm
sometimes a screw type clamp just isn't want you want and you want the original ear type stepless clamp, Oetiker International can find it for you up @ 989-635-3621

Good to know... so the R32 clamp isn't correct? -->
you'd think they'd be the same given the similarity of running gear on R32 and TT quattro. Sorry to have sent you to the wrong part...

not installed yet. will have one when i do
i know i'm **** and i know a zip tie probably would have worked. but at very high trackspeeds i don't want to have to worry about it. they gave them to me anyway, err um samples.

i know. i croaked when the wrong part came in
the R32 was the right diameter, but too wide to fit into the "stepped mold" of the boot.
thanks for the part no. anyway. the dealer didn't charge me for it. i think he felt sorry for me and also couldn't believe audi didn't have a part no. for it.

Can anyone tell me what the danger would be in using a stansard american hose clamp for the cv boot?
